HostingMatters: http://www.hostingmatters.com/
I've been using them since back in the day on my first blog, and I've put several of my friends and other bloggers on them. They are THE BEST. Great technical support, they always respond in less than 15 minutes to every help ticket you submit, and they're always right. Also always courteous. I really love them.
godaddy no. I didn't feel comfortable going with them. Their rules permit unethical people to have and operate websites.
Go with someone where you can get good personalized service. For my business, I use GlyphDot (www.glyphdot.com). Jon set up the business several years ago with emphasis on customer service. Every question I have had has been personally answered and handled by him.
As to whether GlyphDot is good for blog hosting, I have no idea.
There's also http://www.nearlyfreespeech.net . My husband has used it to host our websites for a couple of years now, and he only pays about $20 every few months for bandwidth. He uses Drupal for his site, and Wordpress for mine (when I decide to use it).
(I found you through Rachel Lucas' blog, so I'm another random reader throwing in her $0.02. I'm enjoying your writing!)
WEBSPACETODAY is a small local company here in GA. Dan does page designs and is also a My SQL user, so he will be able to help with questions and problems. The hardware he uses is based in California, but he has an excelent relationship with the people there and is able to get most problems resolved quickly. Even the more complicated ones.
I followed a link from your comment at Rachel's blog mentioning that you are in OK. We're almost neighbors here in Tornado Alley :) - I live in Kansas...
Anywho...
If you're still looking for hosting, I'd suggest QWK.net. Not only are they cheap, their tech support is great and I only pay $15. a month.
I started my first website in 1998 and QWK was suggested by a friend. At that time, their prices easily beat most of their competitors.
Since that time, I've continued to use their hosting service and have only had positive experiences through the years.
I hope this is helpful and I apologize for jumping right in. I've only recently started reading at Rachel's and have yet to post a comment there. I usually read for a long while before participating. At any rate, good luck with your new domain! I look forward to reading more of your blog.

Cool! I will check them out tonight. I'm also looking at GoDaddy since that's where I bought my domain.

Really? Well I wouldn't want any part in that. Hosting Matters certainly looks promising though.
Also look at www.1and1.com
They handle everything from personal site, small business, blogs, stores.
I started with them for Intuition's website and have added on three more domains, my blog and will soon have another one that may include a store.
Cool, thanks
